Canada!

We have arrived in Morden, a small town in the southern part of Manitoba at 9:30 in the evening after another 500 miles worth of driving. We will be spending the next 4 days in the surrounding area with my cousin Hany, his wife Mona and their two kids, Freddy and Jasmine. Pictures to follow soon...

Day One

Got a decent start this morning.  We were planning on leaving by 8:30, but that became 9:30 due to the late delivery of my newest travel companion.

This is the machine I will be using to do my blogging/skyping while we are travelling.  Takes up less space than a book.  I love it already.

We drove roughly 550 miles today, ending up in Sioux City, Iowa for the night.

All in all, an uneventful day, mostly spent watching the scenery fly by through the car windows.  We will hopefully get an early start tomorrow morning and make it to Canada by early evening.

Inaugural Post

I am not new to the world of blogging but I have never felt compelled to put my thoughts and observations out there for the world to see.  However, in light of the travelling I will be doing this summer, I've decided to give it shot to keep everybody updated on where we are going and what we are doing.  I don't guarantee regular updates, but I'll do my best.

For those of you who don't know, I, my wife Katie, and my sister Jennifer will be leaving the country for roughly two months to take in Canada, Israel, Egypt, and Jordan.  We will be undertaking the first leg, from Edmond, OK to Winnipeg, Canada on May 15th.

One more final to take this Friday, and then I get to start packing...

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, narrow-mindedness, all foes of real understanding.  Likewise tolerance, or broad wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. - Mark Twain
